RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format
for distributing Web content.
Using RSS, Web content providers like Surfline can easily
distribute data like surf reports, news links, headlines, and summaries.
Other sites using RSS to deliver content to a wider audience include Yahoo!
News and The Wall Street Journal.
Typically, people use RSS to:
- Gather, read, or quickly scan frequently updated
headlines from a variety of sources using a "News Aggregator"
or "Newsreader" program. News Aggregators will download and
display RSS feeds for you. A number of free and commercial News Aggregators
are available for download. Popular news readers include AmphetaDesk,
NetNewsWire, and Radio
Userland. Other services will let you add RSS feeds to a Web page.
Yahoo!
lets you add RSS feeds to your My
Yahoo! Page, for example.
- Incorporate syndicated headlines into personal
weblogs (often called "blogs") as a way to display information
from different publishers.
The feeds are provided free of charge for use by individuals
and non-profit organizations for personal, non-commercial uses. However, we REQUIRE
that you provide credit and clearly available links to Surfline in connection with your use of the
feeds. Failure to do so will result in you being blocked from receiving our data. If you are interested in using feeds for commercial purposes, please contact us at support@surfline.com. Providing the name of your company, type of business, domain name, and a simple description of your planned usage will speed the approval process.
If you provide this attribution in text, please use: Surfline.com.
If you provide this credit with a graphic, please use one of the versions
located on this
page, or this
page.
We reserve all rights to the Surfline logo, and your right
to use the Surfline logo is limited to providing credit in connection
with these RSS feeds.
